It’s round 3 for the Bib & Tucker brand, which continues to evolve yet, somehow, never really change. After being sold to a new owner in 2017 — with a wholly different source for its whiskey — the 6 year old brand is still under the ownership of Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits and made in Tennessee, only now it’s added two siblings, a 10 year old and a 12 year old expression. Labels have changed slightly, but the bare cork-enclosed frontier-style bottle remains the same. Note that these whiskeys are unusual for the barrel regimen, which is spent in very light, #1 char barrels.

Bib & Tucker Small Batch Bourbon 6 Years Old (2021) – There’s still plenty of lumber on the nose here, filtered through notes of mint, rye spice, and ample peanut butter — the lattermost of which grows even stronger as it develops in the glass. On the palate, many of the same elements continue the theme, though a slight grassiness and some baking spice notes nod at what must be a solid rye element in the mashbill. Overall I found this really approachable, though the finish is loaded with what feels like a big scoop of peanut butter ice cream, drizzled with caramel sauce. Looking back, my notes today are virtually identical to my notes from 2019, though I find it more expressive in its simplicity and enjoyable today than in that previous review. Bib & Tucker Small Batch Bourbon 10 Years Old (2021) – A step up from the 6 year old, this has a similar nose, but is tempered by a chocolate note and a clearer spice character. Ample barrel char and some bacon notes give it a savory character, but a nice almond note pops as it opens up in the glass. The palate is gently sweet with notes of maple and butterscotch but also a bit on the burly side, with a mild smoky quality driven by ample barrel time. On the finish, a slight lemon peel note gives the whiskey a surprising brightness, ultimately providing an immersive, lively, and enduring experience. 92 proof. Reviewed: Batch #2. Bib & Tucker Small Batch Bourbon 12 Years Old Single Barrel Select (2021) – This is a single barrel expression of Bib & Tucker, bottled at 12 years old. Distinctly spicier but quite sweet on the nose, the whiskey offers a slug of butterscotch, molten caramel, and a classic spray of baking spices that drops you into the center of an apple pie. Heavy with cinnamon and cloves on the tongue, this presents itself as a rye-heavy bourbon at the top of its game, again bold with caramel plus chocolate and vanilla — a veritable ice cream sundae that’s almost syrupy in its sweetness. A touch of barrel char brings it back from the edge, but the sweet finish is lush and lingering, popping with notes of spiced caramel, vanilla cream, and a hint of citrus peel.
