Measuring at a whopping 984-feet, the exploration vessel has been designed to unite science and exploration, to confront and solve earth’s greatest challenges. Marrying science, technology, adventure, exploration, education, and entertainment in ways never before imagined, Earth300 was conceived by Iddes Yachts – an international design and naval architecture firm with branches in Palma de Mallorca and Barcelona – to provide ‘face-to-face’ oceanic research with 22 state-of-the-art laboratories and a “science sphere” on the aft deck.

With the preliminary vessel design approved and preliminary naval engineering also completed, the Earth300 is poised to set sail as soon as possible. Conceived to be an extreme technology platform for science, exploration, and innovation at sea, the vessel will hold more than 400 people from four distinct communities: 160 scientists, 20 experts (entrepreneurs and economists, engineers, explorers, and artists), 20 students, 40 VIP citizens, and 165 crewmembers. The professionals on board will be the smartest and brightest minds in their field in order to create an intelligence collective that is unrivaled in scope and diversity to combat climate crises. They will be able to work hand-in-hand to bring solutions in real-time and offer an open-source platform for scientists globally to benefit from this knowledge.

The goal of this project is to bring the climate alarm to a global and present a new way to bring leaders in their field together to combat this crisis. Furthermore, Iddes Yachts believes that a project of this scale will inspire ethical and ecological imagination and ‘wake up the global community in an effort to bring a new economic and ecological vision for the world. Powered by nuclear tech known as molten salt reactors (MSRs), this futuristic yacht was designed for emission-free sailing in a further effort to protect Planet Earth.

“The ship will introduce features found on cruise, expedition, research, and luxury yachts but She will be none of them,” said Aaron Olivera, CEO of Earth 300.

The design of the vessel was made to both be functional but also one that would inspire as the sphere not only resembles the Earth, it will be a hub challenged to protect it. This sphere will hold a science city where climate change will be tackled first-hand, an amplifier to inspire generations of change needing to happen.

Packed with extreme technology and the most advanced underwater vehicles to reconnect our personal human-ocean relationship, meant collaboration with leading companies across a multitude of industries. From Core-Power, NED, RINA, IBM, this vessel is paced with state-of-the-art systems designed to ensure a purpose-filled mission to protect and preserve our planet.

Core-Power, currently leading in the design and integration of the next generation of Molten Salt Reactors (MSR) into the maritime industry, shed important light on this new technology, making Earth300 possibly be the first vessel to be powered with these next generation of MSR reactors. NED, Earth 300’s trusted naval architecture firm, helped to implement the latest green technology in design to bring invaluable support to turn Earth300’s vessel design into reality. RINA, among the world-leading classification societies in the cruise ships sector, is enthusiastically supporting the project to grant the project with Approval in Principle to be in line or even exceed the best present and future marine industry standards. IBM joined the team in early 2020 to be the provider of a data, AI, and automation platform as part of Earth300’s collaboration framework as well as providing technology and design expertise to support Earth300’s collaborators and innovators. Other partners include Triton Submarines and EYOS Expeditions.
