Trader Joe’s Just Added a Hidden Section to Their Website That Will Make Shopping Even Easier

I’ve noticed a recurring phenomenon every time I shop at Trader Joe’s without a plan: I simply throw every item that I pass into my cart with reckless abandon. Even if all I originally intended to purchase was a dozen eggs and a salad kit, I nevertheless end up at checkout with a full basket of who knows what. And I know I’m not alone in this.

For many people, shopping at Trader Joe’s listlessly (which, for the purposes of this story shall be defined as “the state of being without a list”) can wreak havoc on your grocery budget. Don’t get me wrong, it’s fun to go with the flow at the Joe, but the easiest way to grocery shop (and save money while you’re at it) is to make a list. And Trader Joe’s has decided to help shoppers out in that department through a recent change, which I was alerted to by an astute member of the Facebook group, Trader Joe’s Meal Ideas for Busy Moms.

Trader Joe’s just added a “Shopping List” feature to their website, wherein shoppers can search the product directory and add items to their list. The gallery includes product images, package size, and price information as well, which is a helpful tool for sticking to your budget and making a realistic game plan.

Keep in mind that so far, this product directory includes only 264 items, which is not everything stocked on store shelves. Perhaps as it ramps up, the selection will become more complete? In addition to “Kosher,” “Vegan,” “Gluten Free,” and “Organic”, you can also filter items using fun search terms such as “Unexpected,” “Feeling Adventurous,” “Mouth on Fire,” “Backpack Ready,” “Desk Drawer,” “Picnic,” and more, to find products for any occasion.

Unfortunately, this function does not automatically tally the total cost of your list. You will have to do that yourself. There is, however, a “Print This List” feature, so you can take it with you while you shop. Here’s hoping the next feature they add is a “Buy Now” button that ships your cart directly to your door!
