MORTAL KOMBAT is coming off an impressive number one debut at the box office and a great start on HBO Max. Fans seem to be mostly thrilled by what the film delivered and now popular WWE personality, The Miz, is doubling down on his efforts to play Johnny Cage in the sequel after catching the film over the weekend.
Johnny Cage does not make an appearance in the new Mortal Kombat but his debut in the sequel is made fairly certain by the film’s end. The Miz, noticing that the door is still wide open for being cast as Johnny Cage, posted a digitally edited image of himself as Johnny Cage on Twitter. The caption reads “No Johnny Cage? I AM the special effects. Let me do the casting for you. Say cheese #MortalKombat @MKMovie @noobde.” You can check out The Miz’s Twitter post below:

The fun didn’t stop with The Miz. BossLogic, a digital artist that is known for showing how certain actors might look in various roles, posted an ordinary picture of The Miz, also known as Mike Mizanin, rather than a fan edit. BossLogic’s caption read “Top of my top choices for Johnny Cage is The Miz. The guy is literally him, no edit needed.” You can check out BossLogic’s Twitter post below:

It’s easy to see how some wrestling fans might see the true potential in casting The Miz as Johnny Cage. The Miz’s wrestling character is extremely cocky and that’s a quality that is shared with Johnny Cage. Both characters also tend to wear sunglasses indoors but The Miz at least takes his off when facing an opponent. Judging from all these fan renderings, he certainly looks the part and I have no real issue with him being considered. If he has some chops to pull it of, why not give him a shot and let him read for the role whenever casting comes up.
The Miz’s career trajectory has been pretty fascinating. He made a name for himself on reality television as a member of the cast of MTV’s The Real World in 2001. The Miz transitioned into the world of wrestling when competing on the show Tough Enough. This led to him joining the WWE and he has remained one of the company’s most well-known characters ever since. The Miz won the WWE Championship twice, along with a plethora of other title belts. Pro Wrestling Illustrated’s PWI 500 list ranked him at NO. 1 back in 2011. In terms of acting, The Miz has also starred as action hero Jake Carter in The Marine 3-6 and he made an appearance as himself in the wrestling movies Fighting with My Family and The Main Event.
Do YOU think The Miz would be a good Johnny Cage?
