The Final Drop Distillers has made its first transfer into spirits creation with the launch of a 50-year-old blended whisky.

The Final Drop 50 Yr Previous Signature Blended Scotch Whisky is the 22nd launch from the Sazerac-owned bottler. It’s also the corporate’s inaugural signature mix.

Rebecca Jago, managing director of The Final Drop, stated: “This glorious 50-year-old mix marks a major second for The Final Drop as our first foray into the creation, in addition to curation, of exceptional spirits.”

The whisky can also be the primary expression created by new grasp blender Colin Scott, who joined The Last Drop Distillers in September 2020.

Scott has greater than 50 years of expertise within the trade and was the previous grasp blender for Pernod Ricard’s Scotch whisky arm Chivas Brothers.

Scott stated: “In almost half a century within the trade, that is solely the second 50-year-old mix I’ve created, and I’m immensely proud each of the complexity of the whisky and of its significance: as The Final Drop’s first signature mix, and as my inaugural launch with them.”

Restricted to 500 bottles globally, the brand new expression is created from the corporate’s stock of maturing malt and grain whiskies, and aged blends.

The whisky started as a brand new distillate of single malts and grains, which have been stuffed into Sherry and Bourbon casks greater than 50 years in the past.

The ensuing liquid affords dried fruits and scented floral notes, together with candy spices and creamy toffee. The end supplies hints of liquorice, spring flowers and oak.

As with all The Final Drop releases, every bottle comes packaged with a 50ml miniature of the identical liquid and a pocket-sized tasting guide.

The whisky is priced at RRP £3,250 (US$4,619) and obtainable from The Final Drop web site and effective spirits retailers.

Scott is among the six founding members of The Meeting, which was formed by The Last Drop in 2020. The ‘cross-category’ discussion board is made up of spirits veterans who will share their data, concepts and experience throughout the trade.

Buffalo Hint proprietor Sazerac acquired The Last Drop Distillers in 2016.
