HBO has released the first official photos from the highly anticipated Game of Thrones prequel series, House of the Dragon. The images give us the first look at the leads that will headline the upcoming series.

The images include a look at Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen and Emma D’Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, Steve Toussaint as Lord Corlys Velaryon (also known as the Sea Snake), and Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower and Rhys Ifans as Otto Hightower. The images, which were released on the official Twitter page for the series, can be viewed below!

House of Dragon, created by George R.R. Martin and Ryan Condal, is a prequel to Game of Thrones and is based on Martin’s novel, “Fire & Blood.” The show is set 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones and chronicles the beginning of the end of House Targaryen. The series is one of six Game of Thrones-related prequel projects that is in the works at HBO so it’s obvious they know that this universe is a hit they’re not really to let go of just yet.

What are YOUR thoughts on the images from House of the Dragon? The first season of the series is scheduled to air in 2022 and will consist of ten episodes.
