According to the brand, since ending the limited-edition run, Taffy has been their most-requested color ever. In fact, Great Jones received over 2,000 emails and social media requests to bring the color back! And last month they finally re-released a limited number of Taffy-colored Dutchesses a second time, and it sold out in just a few weeks. But here’s the good news: Taffy is back in stock (again!) just in time to surprise Mom with a delightful pop of pink for her kitchen, and firmly secure your spot as the favorite kid!
Kitchn’s Tools Editor, Riddley, recently voted the Dutchess the best oval Dutch oven, which she’s used extensively since getting hers four years ago. She shares, “I use it a ton: for roasting, simmering beans, boiling water for pasta, making soup and pot roasts, and more.” Regarding the testing that went into her Dutch oven research, she says “I made enough no-knead bread and braised chicken thighs to last a lifetime”.
Despite regular use over the past few years, Riddley’s Dutchess “hasn’t chipped or scratched” which means your pretty pink will stay intact for years to come. She also highlights features like the pot’s large, looped handles (which make it easy to grip and lift), as well as the gray-colored enameled interior, which she says “makes it a cinch to monitor browning, but won’t discolor as easily as a light-interior Dutch oven might.”
Kitchn Contributor Danielle Centoni also put the Dutchess through its paces when it first launched and remarked that the oval size came in handy when she mistakenly brought some uncut short ribs back from the market. “Those suckers were 10 inches long,” she remembers, “but they fit just fine in the pot.” Though designed to do everything you’d expect from a Dutch oven like simmering, braising, and slow cooking, Danielle adds, “without the lid, the pot can double as a deep roasting pan.”
Other fans of the Dutchess report giving the multi-purpose pot a permanent space on their stoves, both for how much they use it and the fact that it’s a design feature in and of itself. The 6 3/4 -quart capacity is versatile for a huge range of kitchen tasks, and though Taffy is reminiscent of springy tones, the matte pink would complement a neutral color palette year-round.
So, if you want to brighten up Mom’s kitchen (or your own), don’t delay. When the Taffy Dutchess sells out this time, there’s no knowing how long you’ll have to wait to get your hands on it again — if at all!
