Grasp distiller Billy Walker crafted the 30-year-old expression from 9 casks

The GlenAllachie 30-12 months-Outdated Cask Power Batch 1 is a mix of 1989 and 1990 classic whiskies matured in ex-Pedro Ximénez and oloroso Sherry barrels, in addition to chinquapin virgin oak casks.

Grasp distiller Billy Walker, a virtually 50-year veteran of the trade, crafted 2,000 bottles of the 48.9% ABV expression. It was bottled with out chill filtering or added colouring.

Walker acquired GlenAllachie from Chivas Brothers, Pernod Ricard’s Scotch whisky arm, almost 4 years in the past.

He stated: “After I first explored the warehouses right here again in 2017, I used to be blown away by the standard I found. I instantly set out earmarking casks and planning a sequence of extremely particular releases.

“I all the time had an ambition to create a memorable 30-year-old expression, offered at pure cask energy, that would actually blow away whisky connoisseurs throughout the globe. It’s a small batch single malt that undoubtedly captures every thing I’ve realized alongside the best way in my profession, and thus is a bottling I’m significantly proud to launch.”

On the nostril, the whisky has notes of fruit cake, raisins and mocha, together with honey, cinnamon and coconut. The palate gives layers of darkish chocolate, raisins, honey and figs, accompanied by treacle, orange zest and nutmeg.

It’s accessible globally from specialist retailers for RRP £475 (US$671).
