Vinexposium has divided wine and spirits into two new trade events in the US next year, which will be jointly held in New York City.

Vinexpo New York

The first Vinexpo New York show was held in 2018

Vinexposium, which organises trade shows in Hong Kong, Paris and Bordeaux, and Diversified Communications have revealed the launch of Vinexpo America and Drinks America.

The shows will both be held on 9-10 March 2022 in the new Hall 3 at the Jacob K Javits Convention Center in New York City. The organiser has hosted its Vinexpo New York show at the convention centre since 2018.

Described as a ‘repositioning’ of Vinexpo New York, Vinexpo America will focus exclusively on wines. In October, Vinexpo New York cancelled its 2021 fair due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Drinks America has been created due to the continuing rise in consumption of spirits and ready-to-drink beverages.

In addition to spirits, Drinks America will showcase beer and saké from producers across the world, as well as alcohol accessories and services.

Rodolphe Lameyse, CEO of Vinexposium, said: “The launch of our events in the United States in 2022 is designed to coincide with the resumption of trade between Europe and the USA.

“Under a new name, Vinexpo America aims to embrace the entire North American market, alongside Drinks America. It has become crucial to offer our customers a comprehensive business platform that matches the scale of the American continent and includes spirits, craft drinks and beers alongside wine.”

The organisers said the events will provide US and Canadian buyers access to new and established brands that are looking to expand distribution, network and meet with existing customers in North America.

Furthermore, the two-day event will offer a programme of conferences and masterclasses, tackling issues across wine and spirits.

‘Enhanced offering’

“We’re excited to renew our partnership with Vinexposium and come back to New York in 2022 with a brand new, greatly enhanced offering,” said Mary Larkin, president of Diversified Communications USA.

“Bringing together Vinexpo America and Drinks America in a single meeting place will enable us to serve the entire US wine and spirits communities – an especially welcome opportunity after the Covid-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of the industry’s major exhibitions in 2021.”

Registered attendees will have access to both shows. Exhibitors will be given unlimited free guest invitations.

The show will also offer a business matchmaking service that will simplify one-to-one meetings.

More details on the 2022 event will be revealed in the coming months.

This year’s Vinexpo Paris trade fair was cancelled, with the next physical edition due to take place in February 2022.

Vinexposium has also postponed the Hong Kong and Bordeaux editions of the show until 2022.
