Ardbeg 8 Years Outdated might be out there completely to Ardbeg Committee members

Ardbeg 8 Years Outdated for Dialogue is the newest Committee-only bottling from the Scotch whisky model, born out of an experiment by grasp distiller Dr Invoice Lumsden.

The eight-year-old is the reply to Lumsden’s query ‘what if, in an alternate universe, Ardbeg Ten Years Outdated was not the distillery’s “flagship” aged expression?’

Lumsden, Ardbeg’s director of distilling, stated: “Ardbeg 8 Years Outdated is a tasty, younger and curious whisky – I like to consider it because the ‘various universe’ model of Ardbeg Ten Years Outdated.

“An aged ex-Sherry whisky is new territory for us, so naturally, we wish some ideas. We’re sharing this with the Committee’s skilled palates to assist us discover that smoky candy spot.

“With notes of daring peat smoke, creosote, charcoal and salted caramel, it’s greater than assured to impress dialogue amongst these privileged sufficient to style it.”

Bottled at 50.8% ABV, Ardbeg 8 Years Outdated For Dialogue might be out there to buy in July, priced at £57 (US$78) per 700ml bottle.

Tasting notes embody aromas of charcoal, treacle toffee, hints of milk chocolate and aniseed, which result in a ‘distinctively peppery mouthfeel’ and flavours of salted caramel chocolate, eucalyptus, menthol and burnt toast. The end is claimed to ship a ‘lengthy and lingering’ aftertaste, with a touch of peppermint and clove.
