The grandeur of superyachts has also been an additional element of admiration and awe for every yacht lover. Luxury superyacht companies continuously strive to create and present concepts that pivot the yachting industry to newer heights. Such is 83 meters (272 foot) concept superyacht Comète from The A Group Designer Thibaud Le Merdy and Yachting Director Matt Pegrum.

The A Group, founded in 1985 by Oceanco cofounder Richard Hein has been synonymous with innovative designs and best-in-the-class craftsmanship. The collaboration of the yacht company with the up-and-coming yacht designer has brought the young designer’s vision to fruition. The designer penned the design of the superyacht the same year he was named BOAT International‘s Young Designer of the Year in 2017. Four years later, Thibaud and Matt Pegrum present a superyacht to admire and compliment. “Comete is for an owner that is willing to breathe fresh air and to be close to the sea at every moment. It is what makes this yacht unique. You just have to look at the exterior main deck saloon to understand that everything is nicer when you are closer to nature…” said the studio.

The 1800 GT immaculately balances between spaces open to the surrounding nature and refined, clean forms. For the exterior design, the team worked on dynamic and elegant lines to achieve an exquisite and sophisticated overall shape. The expansive garage of the superyacht can house two 10 meter tenders, eight Jet Skis, and a seven-meter crew tender. A notable feature of Comete is the gorgeous 8x4m bottom glass swimming pool located on the upper deck. The yacht also features two Jacuzzis which also have theatrical welcoming stairs surrounding them. Comete can host 12 guests, two staff and 20 crew members. The owner’s suite also includes its own private terrace that spans about 1300 square feet with stunning sea views. The superyacht also has a spa overlooking the bow and a sheltered exterior saloon forward that covers roughly 2,400 square feet.

The superyacht pays attention to its environmental footprint while being fast and luxurious. The well-engineered hull form and sleek design use lightweight materials to reduce the propulsion power requirements. The abundance of open spaces and intelligent organization allows the redistribution of space on the boat offering the best place for the Guests. Project Comète has a top speed of 16 knots and a cruising speed of 12 knots.

“We are closely monitoring the development of hydrogen fuel cells for future projects such as Comete as we believe this technology has the potential to change environmental performance by allowing zero-emission power generation radically. In addition to batteries for peak shaving and waste heat recovery systems (for heating swimming pool and domestic hot water), which are already proven, the yacht can have an overall efficient energy production and storage system.”, said the studio.
