TORONTO, June 15, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — SEIU (Service Staff Worldwide Union) Native 2 has submitted an Emergency Decision to the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) to boycott Arterra Wines. Arterra Wines, owned by the academics by way of the Ontario Lecturers’ Pension Plan, continues to recruit scab labour and refuses to accede to calls for for truthful wage and scheduling insurance policies which might finish the dispute.
The decision calls on the three million households represented by the CLC to cease buying any Arterra merchandise till Arterra Wines places an finish to its anti-union assaults. Because the decision reads, the Union is particularly asking that the “CLC implement a Nationwide Boycott of all Arterra merchandise/manufacturers and notably the Wine Rack Shops and such boycott be communicated on to its three (3) million members’ households.”

Wine Rack staff have been on strike since June 7th. Arterra Wines has a historical past of abusing staff’ rights, together with unsuccessfully attempting to dam the Union from speaking with members. SEIU Native 2 is looking on solidarity from this whole labour motion to assist defend Wine Rack staff towards these assaults and protest staff’ rights in every single place.
