Sabrina the teenage witch, felony, melissa joan hart

A Texas resident named Caron McBride learned that she had been charged with a felony but the crime itself Is bound to make you chuckle. McBride was charged for an unreturned copy of a Sabrina the Teenage Witch VHS tape from 21 years ago.

McBride learned she was charged with felony embezzlement of rented property in March 2000 while running into a problem with the DMV when she was trying to change her name on her license. McBride has no recollection of renting the VHS and went on to say “I have never seen one episode nor movie” of the popular series.

The Texas resident believes that her boyfriend at the time, who had two younger daughters, was the culprit that came into contact with the Sabrina VHS tape. McBride was given a case number and the number of an Oklahoma courthouse to begin resolving the issue. McBride later learned that she had been charged with a felony. Once the court realized the felony was sparked by an unreturned VHS tape from over 20 years ago, they dropped the charges against McBride.

Despite the issue being settled, McBride says that the unreturned Sabrina the Teenage Witch VHS tape has caused her to miss out on opportunities over the years. McBride says “It’s hurt me tremendously, and my family. It makes me madder the more I think about it. I was struggling to make ends meet when I knew I was quite capable of making really good money. “

McBride is now pursuing legal action in regards to her case but most lawyers in Oklahoma are refusing to rake her case. As her story has started to spread on social media, McBride has heard from many other people that have similar stories and some of them have done actual jail time. In 2016, a man was pulled over for a broken taillight and that’s when he learned that he had a warrant out for his arrest because he was charged with a misdemeanor for not returning a copy of Tom Green’s Freddy Got Fingered. It appears that McBride is sharing her story to stop this injustice and nothing is going to stop her on her one-woman crusade.

Fight on Caron!
