Review: Sipsmith Strawberry Smash Gin

London-based Sipsmith is likely one of the most underrated, under-the-radar gins available on the market. Not too long ago it took issues in a shocking course by releasing this limited-edition expression, a strawberry-and-mint infused model of its basic gin. A part of the limited-edition Sipping Sequence, the primary launch was flavored chili & lime gin, whereas a coffee-infused gin is already on faucet for the third installment within the sequence.

Sipsmith Strawberry Smash is the true deal, distilled with Wimbledon strawberries and English mint.

The outcomes are curious. The expertise is just not overwhelming with strawberry notes, to make sure. In actual fact, the nostril feels pretty conventional: heavy on juniper (paying homage to the V.J.O.P. bottling) with sturdy undercurrents of angelica and a ruddy, dusky high quality. Mint really feels extra current on the palate than the strawberry character, although that fruity, cream-laden high quality can also be within the combine, although weighed down by extra juniper, some citrus peel, and a wholesome invoice of baking spice. Serve this in a gin & tonic and your friends might imagine you’ve sweetened issues up only a contact, however until you’re dropping strawberry slices within the glass (see pic) they might wrestle to determine precisely what’s completely different right here.

80 proof.
