Blue Run‘s second launch of the yr is one other contract-distilled product with Jim Rutledge as “liquid advisor” on the undertaking.

Blue Run “Reflection I” Kentucky Straight Bourbon is a small-batch whiskey which Rutledge distilled at Fort & Key Distillery in 2018.  Simply 200 fastidiously chosen barrels have been chosen for this bottling, every toasted to a #3 or #4 char and aged in Frankfort and Bardstown, KY.

The whiskey hits the nostril a bit on the recent facet, a giant barrel char punch backed up with a lot of roasted peanut and a smattering of spice field. There’s youth right here, masked to some extent by the marginally uncooked alcohol character. No main modifications arrive on the palate: Peanut is much more dominant right here, although brighter notes of cherry and a pastry dough aspect give the bourbon a form of cherry pie character later within the recreation. It’s a gentle impact, nevertheless, because the youth of peanut butter and caramel corn finally steal the present, lingering for ages on the lengthy, warming end.

Fairly dear for its complexion.
