Review: 2019 Tangent Sauvignon Blanc Paragon Vineyard

Edna Valley, the place this sauvignon blanc is produced, is only a few miles from the Pacific Ocean within the San Luis Obispo space. Whereas this can be a cool local weather sauvignon blanc, the bottling is extra effusive with the trimmings of what hotter California terroirs convey to the grape: on the spot notes of ammonia and overwhelming floral notes, backed up by notes of white peaches plus grapefruit, underripe apple, and eventually lemon curd lingering on the end. Fairly tart, it feels a bit underdeveloped, with the grapefruit factor dominant (and enduring) on the fade-out.
