It’s onerous to consider that it’s been 9 years since we’ve reviewed Don Melchor, a semi-cult wine from Chile’s Concha y Toro empire, a wine which launched in 1987. This classic is a mix of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, 2% Merlot, and 1% Petit Verdot.

One can generate few complaints in tasting Don Melchor, this wine showcasing all the model’s immense charms. Thick with chocolate, vanilla, and dense black fruit, it’s by no means tannic for a second, permitting a whip of licorice sweet into the combo. Violets are in attendance, as is a contact of lavender. Rounded and mouth-filling however surprisingly gentle, the wine is instantly partaking and tough to place down, these chocolate notes feeling nearly unreal because the wine winds its means towards a lush, satiny end. The primary shift with this launch: It’s immediately drinkable; I’m undecided any period of time in cellar will enhance issues additional.
