Italian producer Memento has expanded its range of non-alcoholic ‘spirits’ with the release of Blue, which is made with Mediterranean sea water.
Memento Blue is the third expression in the alcohol-free ‘spirit’ range, following the original Memento bottling and Memento Green, which was launched in 2019.
The new expression has been created to ‘spark the memory of Italian summers’ with its taste inspired by the Mediterranean Sea.
Memento Blue is made using Mediterranean sea water, as well as botanicals such as clary sage, savory and oregano.
The resulting bottling is described as being ‘fresh and spicy, with hints of seafoam and Mediterranean maquis’ on the nose. On the palate, it is ‘characterised by a light texture, with savoury and herbal notes’.
Memento Blue is recommended served in cocktails such as the Emule, which is made with Memento Blue, ginger beer and blood orange.
As well as being alcohol-free, the new expression is also free from sugar, calories, gluten and lactose, and is vegan.
Memento Blue is available to purchase from the brand’s website, priced at €30 (US$36) per 700ml bottle.
Last year, the Italian brand partnered with ready-to-drink producer Nio Cocktails to create two zero-ABV serves.
