King Viserys simply royally screwed up.

Through the Oct. 9 episode of Home of the Dragon, Princess Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) and Queen Alicent (Olivia Cooke) lastly made up after being at odds for years. Not solely did Alicent acknowledge Rhaenyra as the rightful heir to the Iron Throne, however the former pals appeared able to spend actual time collectively.

Sadly, this second of peace was derailed after a deathbed confession by Viserys (Paddy Considine), as he informed his spouse concerning the “prince that was promised” prophecy. “You needed to know, if I believed it to be true,” the confused Viserys stated as Alicent comforted him. “Do not you bear in mind? Aegon. His dream, the tune of ice and hearth.”

As he continued, Viserys stated what Aegon (his ancestor, not his son with Alicent) noticed within the North was true. “The prince to unite the realm towards the chilly and the darkish,” he defined. “It’s you, you’re the one. You have to do that.”

This message from the dying Viserys appeared to encourage Alicent to return to her mission of placing her son Aegon (Tom Glynn-Carney) on the throne over Rhaenyra, as she informed her husband, “I perceive, my king.”
